DKC Weeknight Tournament Held At FLA with DST Support

Read Time:2 Minute, 31 Second

DKC finished the first semester of debate league competition on the campus of the Foreign Language Academy (FLA) December 12th, 2012. DST sponsored the FLA team this year and the tournament where more than 280 students gathered to debate the finer points of United States transportation policy in student congress and policy debate. This was the third middle school tournament of the year and marked the last chance for students to compete before winter break.

The schools of Lee A. Tolbert, Arrowhead and FLA continued their fierce competition for sweepstakes champion, which is the school that earns the most overall points at the tournament. Arrowhead narrowly took the day winning 1st place in sweepstakes but FLA and Lee. A Tolbert were close behind. Now each of these three schools has won first place at a tournament this season and DKC middle school competition has never been so close.

In policy debate it was the host school (FLA) duo team of Max Keeney and Joe Green that won first place. Max Keeney also rounded out the day with a top speaker award. In student congress several students continued to excel, notably Luke Hogue and Suan Sonna (Arrowhead) having placed in the top two at every tournament so far this year. Clearly, Arrowhead is a school to be watched as the season continues.
