Wyandotte Workshop Recap

Read Time:1 Minute, 4 Second

On Thursday, September 13, DKC hosted its annual Wyandotte workshop. Held at Wyandotte high school in KCK, the workshop is designed to give students the opportunity to engage in a full-length policy debate in a stress-free environment, where they can practice their skills and gain valuable feedback from judges before the season starts. Teams face off against each other in intramural competition, further raising the comfort level and learning time for the participants.

Teams from University Academy, Center, JC Harmon, and Lincoln Prep all attended the workshop with teams ready to try their hand at policy debate. The new program of East high school also made it out, and got to observe some energetic debates while trying their hand at speech giving at the end of the day. There were two rounds of policy debate, with judges consisting of coaches, volunteers, and league alumni. Students were given valuable feedback during and after rounds, and stoked the competitive flames against their teammates. The top 3 speakers from each school were announced, with top speaker of the school receiving their first trophy of the season.

DKC had a blast at the workshop and sends a hearty thank you to the Wyandotte team for making such an educational and fun experience possible for the league!
