NAUDL Features DKC Alumnus Marcus Leach
|
12/8/2008 -- You may have heard of Marcus Leach from Joe Miller’s book Cross-X, which follows the personal struggles and victories of Marcus and other urban debaters in Kansas City, Missouri. The NAUDL’s Holly Reiss tried to track down Marcus for an interview and found him in Shanghai, China—taking a year off from Howard Law School to teach English and learn about international trade. Marcus credits debate for his success, saying, “You and I both know where I’d be without debate, and it wouldn’t be here.”

Arrowhead All Aces

12/2/2008 -- Over 200 middle school students descended on the campus of Arrowhead Middle School to participate in DKC’s third student congress tournament of the year. The tournament was a showcase of DKC talent. The Senate (the premier chamber of congress) delivered more speeches in two sessions of competition than had ever been given at a weeknight tournament in all of DKC history.

A Great Saturday at UA

11/22/2008 -- University Academy (UA) held DEBATE-Kansas City’s second high school weekend tournament with incredible success and achieved something unheard of in debate: the tournament got out early!

Over 200 Compete at Center Middle School Weeknight

11/20/2008 -- Center hosted the largest middle school tournament in the history of DEBATE-Kansas City (DKC) as over 200 students competed for individual and team awards.

DKC Alumni Continue College Debate Success at UCO

11/10/2008 -- Last year’s senior class from DEBATE-Kansas City is making a mark on the college debate community. At the University of Central Oklahoma tournament November 8th through the 10th DKC alumni captured six awards for three different universities.

New DKC Tradition Begins at Wyandotte Weekend Tournament
|
11/1/2008 -- In an effort to provide more opportunity to member schools DEBATE-Kansas City teamed up with Wyandotte High School to host a weekend tournament. It was the first DKC weekend competition, aside from the annual City Championship, in over seven years.
