Nearly 200 students from 14 area middle schools debated on the campus of Lincoln College Preparatory Academy in Kansas City, Missouri in DEBATE-Kansas City’s fifth middle school weeknight tournament of the season.
“The Lincoln tournament was very impressive. The school’s staff, students and parents all pitched-in and everything went on time. I can students are progressing because I heard some the year’s best speeches,” said Gabe Cook, Director of DEBATE-Kansas City.
Lincoln Prep took advantage of the home turf, capturing another sweepstakes title. However, DKC students from across the area certainly shined. Chris Childs of Coronado had a break out tournament taking down first place in House B.
“The league has an incredible depth of talent as compared to a couple years ago,” said Lawrence Cardenas, a regular DKC volunteer. “Now that students and coaches have a couple years of experience under their belt we are getting to see some great debates,” he concluded.
